Nordic group owns several spectrum licenses in Czech Republic and intends to participate in the 700 MHz spectrum auction planned for 2020.
Nordic Telecom Systems a.s. itself is holder of 2 x 4,25 MHz nationwide 410-430 MHz spectrum licence in the Czech Republic and provides there dedicated LTE network designated for PPDR use.
The 450 MHz frequency range was formerly used in many European countries in the 1980s for the implementation of first mobile radio networks (NMT or C-networks). In the course of further technological developments, the 450MHz range was later taken into account in the CDMA2000 standard and that was gradually broaden also to 410-430 MHz range. There was originally more than 100 operators worldwide providing the CDMA network in the 410 - 450 MHz spectrum range. Due to the ongoing technological development in the mobile radio sector, LTE technology is now also available for operation in the 410 - 450 MHz band. Nordic Telecom Systems follows the other network operators worldwide, who commenced the transformation from CDMA technology through LTE to future 5G standard. There are already several network operators, who launched the LTE network in the 450 MHz spectrum and there are several others, who prepare for the technological swap.
Nordic Telecom Systems holds its 2018 dated primacy in launching and operating the first LTE network in the 410-430 MHz spectrum. And there are other operators, who are following (e.g. Ireland) or consider the option in the same spectrum (e.g. Portugal, Hungary…)
In the end of 2019 Nordic Telecom Systems successfully demonstrated its network functionality within the public consultation declared by the Czech Ministry of Interior.
